Bottom 1

Off Schill's top of the first, this would be a great spot to put up 3 or 4. Shake Carmona early!
Ball one to Pedroia. Age and strength suggest first pitch strikes aren't as critical for Carmona, but confidence might suggest otherwise. On 1-2 Dustin beats the throw from Cabrera as the secondsacker makes a tremendous barehand play on a ball up the middle.
Youk stands in at .421 in the postseason. Ball one. Ball two with the Big Man looming. Strike one, called. Strike two, a terrible swing at a good pitcher's pitch. Ground ball deep in the hole, Peralta tries second, but everybody's safe!
Papi with two on and none out. Papi's at .400 for the playoffs. Ball one. Carmona hasn't had a first pitch strike yet. Martinez needs to talk it over. Ball two. He's thrown as many pitches as Schilling did, and no one's out yet. Ball three. Keep digging, kid, keep digging! A generous strike one. Strike two, legit. Fox showed a graphic: Highest lifetime average with RISP in the postseason? David Ortiz, .442. Ball four!
Time for Manny to be Manny, in the best sense of the term. He's at .471 in the ALCS. .471? Yikes! Strike one. Carmona needed that. Fouled to right for strike two. Seventeen pitches, no one out yet. The Sox have the kid on the ropes; time to put him away right here. Ball one. Foul to the left side, still 1-2. Ball two. Manny needs a hit tonight to set a new LCS hitting streak. Foul tip evades Martinez, still 2-2. The kid comes up big and strikes Manny out. Enormous out number one. Still, on the 22nd pitch for the first out.
Lowell swings at the first pitch for a little pop to Nixon. Ouch!
It's up to Drew. Oh no! You can't let him get away with loading the bases with no one out! Ball one. Foul to left. Ball two. Ball three. Maybe? JD DREW SAVES THE DAY! GRAND SLAM! 4-0 SOX! Ok, he can stay next year.
Willis visits the mound before Tek stands in. Ball one. Ball two. Stunning: A JD Drew curtain call at Fenway! Ball three! Called strike one. Ball 4 to Tek.
33 pitches so far, only 1 first pitch strike so far.
Ellsbury stands in for his first postseason at bat. Ball one. Strike. Tap back to Carmona, and Jacoby's out. What an inning!
Carmona: 36 pitches, only 19 of them strikes, only one first pitch strike. Tough, tough inning.
