Christopher Trotman Nixon returns to Fenway Park to take strike one. Ball one. Trot is still a favorite in Sox Nation. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him in the front office or dugout someday. He singles to right. Well, he might have a job if he stops killing us everytime he comes up!
Blake takes a strike for ball one. DeMuth does have a creative strike zone. Foul along third. Foul to the Indians' dugout, 1-2. Blake singles to right, Nixon to 2nd. Not the best use of the opponent's 8 and 9 hitters.
Sizemore with runners. Ball one. Need a grounder to third badly. Ball two. Sizemore lines to Drew. That's helpful. Now, if Cabrera will just smack that grounder to Lowell...
Cabrera is a good looking kid. The Indians have a lot of those. Ball one. Ball two. Obviously, Curt's command isn't as sharp this inning. Strike one over the outside corner. Fly to Drew, short of the warning track. Nixon to third. Always a good baserunner.
Hafner still hasn't done anything. The clock is ticking. Schill delivers a 93 mph fastball, and Hafner doesn't get around on it, fouling into the seats along third. Ball one. Strike two, called. Everybody steps off and out, and they'll reset. Soft grounder to Youk to end the inning.
Schill ain't pretty, just effective.
Inning: 17 pitches, 10 strikes; Game: 39 pitches (right on Leo Mazzone's average), 25 strikes.
4-1 Sox.
