Lugo stands in for ball one. Strike one, called. Carmona needs to stop pitching behind. Strike two, swinging. Julio swings at strike three. One out.
Pedroia pulls the first pitch foul. A first pitch strike! A first pitch strike! Ball one. Foul off first base. Ball two in the dirt. Another pulled foul. 45 pitches for Carmona. Another tap foul, maybe off Dustin's foot. I don't understand how they can ever walk again after doing that. Dustin lines one off the wall, and Lofton plays it badly. Double. I like this kid! Seven pitch at bat resulting in a double. Good stuff.
Strike one to Youk. Ball inside. Youk pulls it foul, 1-2. Youk hits another ball in the hole, with no play for Peralta. Pedroia to third, one out.
Son, you just can't put this many people on in front of Ortiz. Papi crushes the first pitch to Peralta playing the second baseman's position for a 4u-3 DP. About 11 of those for the Sox in this series--too, too many.
Carmona, Inning: 16 pitches, nine strikes; Game: 52 pitches, 28 strikes. Four first pitch strikes in twelve batters. Still, much better inning for Carmona.
