Game 5 Postgame

Well, how about the obvious first? Josh Beckett is The Man! We needed his confidence, his dominance, his innings tonight. He delivered on every count. He has given the Sox a chance to go forward.
Pedroia broke out tonight. Two hits and a walk in five plate appearances is much more like his regular season performance. You don't get to be a rookie in the postseason, and he played like a veteran tonight.
Papi's still Papi: 1-2, a walk, two sac flies, 1 run, 2 rbi. All in a day's work for the big guy.
Manny's being Manny: two hits and a walk in five plate appearances, with an rbi.
Youk did his thing: two hits and a walk in 5 PA; a homer, a triple, 2 runs and 3 rbi.
Lowell and Varitek were each on twice; Drew checked in late and got on twice.
Crisp was really the only non-participant, only reaching on Perez' error.
Lugo had a hit and scored in 4 ab. But he made several outstanding plays at short, and that makes up for a lot.
Papelbon allowed a couple of baserunners, but he hadn't pitched in forever, and needed the work to avoid any more rust.
All in all, everything a Sox fan could have hoped for tonight.
We'll see you from Fenway on Saturday night!
